[membership]Fear is a perfectly natural and instinctual response that is meant to keep you safe from harm.  It can be your protector or your oppressor.  As your friend, fear alerts you to potential physical or emotional danger. It signals you to pay more attention to what you are doing, where you are and what or who is around you. It prepares you physically and mentally to fight or take flight.

When fear becomes overwhelming it controls  you and negatively impacts your life by interfering with the enjoyment of activities you would like to do.  To take back control and manage your fear – so that it becomes your friend rather than your oppressor – it helps to understand what causes those anxious and fearful feelings in the first place.
